LGBT News Sochi 2014: No gay people in city, says mayor

Its Russia there conservative and will always want to protect "the old ways" its very annoying that they act ignorant about a minority of there population being homosexuals.

Russia Kinda reminds me of Israel in World war Z ,how they built a massive wall to keep out the zombies, but eventually we will crawl over that wall

I understand that Russian Conservatism is based on popular ignorance, but I didn't think they'd steep to Iranian levels of denial.

Denying the existence of gays must really take a lot of mind-bending to believe, especially when they actively persecute gays.

 

That pretty much seems to be conservatism in general. If you look in places like Uganda and Nigeria, they hunt gays down, but at the same time refuse to believe that gay people actually exist. They just think that they are confused heterosexuals or heterosexuals that act gay or have a mental illness or something. If you want to hear real denile. Turn on Faux News for a good laugh.

 

It kinda reminds me of the witch hunt trials in Salem. where if you were suspected of sorcery you would be burnt to the stake. kinda like the book the crucible by Arthur miller. in one way you can kind of see this event as history repeating itself in modern day time.

But this time we are dealing with real unintellectual idiots and not paranoid religious people.. wait hold on

 

Reminds me of the iraq puppet-dictator's comments that homosexuals don't exist in that country, or how about baghdad bob's "they will never reach the city." I suppose the ministry of truth really does exist.

P.S. Emotion is hard to convey over the interwebs, so let me just say I'm not trying to compare gay people to alcoholics or criminals but rather speak to this man's depth of denials. Also, the two things I mentioned above have been veritable plagues on the Russian Federation in recent years but I'm willing to bet dollars to donuts their officials casually sweep these things under the rug.

The sad thing is that they still do those Salem witch trials today in about 13 backwards countries, and they actually do burn people at the stake for supposedly being witches and not believing or going against that countries religion. It's horrendous.
