They can't be serious. Never have I felt so hated, and I'm not even near those states. To withhold the essential needs and simple pleasures of life is disgusting and evil and hypocritical. I wish I had the means to fly over and protest.

I don't think the courts would let any of these laws stand.

There was a similar law passed in Colorado, in the 1990s, that allowed people to discriminate against gays, but was struck down (6-3) by the US Supreme Court in the case,

    Romer V. Evans.

So there's already very good precedent against this even making it very far.

One more of these things, and I might as well start wearing a Union jacket and hat.

Read the South Dakota bill. Would love to own a huge corporation there and then fire anyone who was straight  and say my free speech and this law allowed me to do so. Oh the furor. I wouldn't really be a jerk and fire people, but I'd sure make a mockery of their law.

This is just sick. Let them be like that. The sickness can kill itself. They will learn. Turning away customers will ruin the economy. If that bill is passed, they will regret it.

This is the kind of stuff that's holding our country back. Makes me glad to be in CT and Canada...

Thankfully it was nixed, but it's frightening to know there are more people out there that will probably try and pull this crap elsewhere.

Funny thing is; if you took out all mentions of LGBTI people from these bills and replaced them with black, then you'd have a Jim Crow law.

I don't think in their self righteousness they realise just how much they're emulating the days of separate but equal and southern white supremacy.

Glad to see it failed. But even if such a law was passed, the courts would strike it down. There was already a law like this passed in Colorado in the 1990s, that the high court ruled against. It's sad to see them trying to pass more laws like it, as it lays bare their bigotry and hatred. But they won't prevail; there's not a chance in Hell these would survive legal scrutiny.

As a resident of Idaho, this disgusts me... I'm so done with all of the overly religious nuts that inhabit this state...

Key reason why I plan on moving the fuck out of the country when I can afford it and revoking my citizenship.

I know I'm young and all but still (Insert higher power) DAMN IT. America is by far one of the biggest hypocrites is history. It should "Land of the Free...as long as your white, christian, straight, and a male." The only thing that makes me feel better about this is that there is rome to change things. Make things better. By all means I love USA. I live here. But just to think that this politics would even propose such a bill makes me sick. It is violating everything the constitution stands for.

Also anyone wanting to move out of those states. Come on over to C.A.
