I might be a little optimistic but my prediction for SSM in the United States is that by the end of the year, 29 states + DC will have marriage equality. Here's why

    1. The Virgina case will appeal to the 4th circuit . Which will lead to legaization in NC, SC, WV, and VI
    2. Utah will appeal to the 10th circuit which will lead to legalization in & CO, KA, OK, UT, WY
    3. Oregon will legalize it in the 2014 election
    4. Nevada refuses to defend anti-gay legislation

So I ask you EC, What do you think? If you're not American, is SSM allowed? If not, when do you see it being allowed

I'm from Canada and am not familiar enough with the circumstances in most states to really comment, but I'm hoping for another great year for marriage equality in the US. We're all (slowly) moving in the right direction, and it's only up from here.

I'm not so confident about the 10th circuit, but... the 4th circuit seems somewhat promising. If you ask me, I feel like Michigan, Ohio, and maaaaybe Pennsylvania should be on there. After all, Michigan is hearing its gay marriage case soon and the Ohio gay marriage bill may be on the ballot in November. (Sorry if my information is not 100% accurate)

I've made 4 possible maps based on different outcomes.

    Map #1 My personal expectation.

Map #2 Similar to your map, but Ohio has a good chance as well.

Map #3 Both circuits rule defend the gay marriage bans

Map #4 If all goes well, this would be what the map would look like if all options succeed. Pennsylvania may or may not get lucky this year.

  4. If more than 25 states legalize marriage equality, then it will be very likely that there will be a supreme court ruling that will legalize marriage equality nationwide.

While that sounds great, how do you figure that?
