An officer arrived at the home of 17-year-old Christopher Roupe in Euharlee, Georgia to serve an arrest warrant for his father over a probation violation. Christopher and his sister had just popped a DVD into the Wii when there was a knock at the door, and still holding the controller, answered the door. As soon as it was opened, the officer fatally shot Christopher in the chest, and then told his 13 year old sister to "shut up" as she was crying and trying to comfort her brother in the last few moments of his life.

The officer told the Georgia Bureau of Investigations that the boy was holding a handgun and had it pointed at her, though all witnesses say that he was holding a Wii remote and investigators won't say if there was a weapon found at the scene. A neighbor said the officer told him the boy had a BB gun, not an actual firearm.

This was a boy who was due to graduate high school in a few months and join the Marines. He was active in the school's ROTC program, and well liked by friends.

The officer has been placed on paid administrative leave pending the investigation. Once the investigation is complete, the Georgia Bureau of Investigations will then turn the case over Cherokee Judicial Circuit District Attorney Rosemary Greene's office. In other words, the officer gets put on glorified vacation, and all the boy gets is a headstone.

    Christopher's funeral is this afternoon.

And my parents wonder why I'm elated to think that I'm going to the UK.

The way this case is handled is so dismissive.

What's it about folks being so trigger happy, down in those parts? Either the cops, or people trying to act like the cops? Makes me sad, angry and depressed.

"Fuck" is pretty much the only thing I can say. There are too many stupid, pointless, tragic shootings going on recently to be able to handle.

Guns don't kill people, people kill people.

    True.

But people with guns kill people more often than people kill people.

And cops write whiny articles about how they feel mistrusted by the general public.

    Cry more crocodile tears.

Yet another reason why I'd spit on a cop if I had the chance. If a kid isn't getting shot by the cops for this, they're getting beaten or raped on camera while the pigs laugh and smile at the camera.

Here's my idea. If any cop does something against the "moral good or code", they're to be subjected to the same violence they inflicted on another person. They bashed someone's head into a wall, tazed them and laughed? Well, they should have the same thing inflicted on them. Eye for an Eye is so fucking hypocritical, I know...but I'm tired of these bastards thinking they're above the law and can do anything they please; sort of like the two bastard cops who apparently raped a woman in California and are more than likely going to get away with it.

That's a logical fallacy. People with guns killing people are a subset of people killing people.

You generalize unfairly, but in this case, I think she was probably wrong. That "administrative leave" is until she goes to a grand jury, who will likely charge her with murder. She has to be able to articulate that she was in imminent fear for her life to get let off the hook for shooting somebody, and answering the door with a Wii remote? Fat chance she can justify herself there.

Sometimes, I just wonder what has gotten into the brains of these people.
I'm deeply saddened by the loss of such a talented young individual.

This is happening way too frequently. As long as the cops aren't held accountable for their actions (the Kelly Thomas killing, Dorner man hunt shooting) things like this will continue to be a regular occurrence.
