Arizona governor Jan Brewer has until the end of the week to sign or veto Arizona's "right to discriminate" bill...and it looks the pressures are growing for her to veto the measure.

    Story here.

What do you think she's going to do?

Various big businesses, small business associations and even both of Arizona's US senators, McCain and Flake are urging her not to sign the measure.

Probably a veto but with the door left open for a possible rewritten version.

That's my fear...a veto here, then, another similar bill.

I'm just kind of wondering here how this bill applies to non-Christian business owners. Suppose I owned a restaurant in Arizona. Since I'm an atheist, could I say that my religious beliefs prevent me from serving Christians and put up a big sign in the window that says, "CHRISTIANS WILL NOT BE SERVED IN THIS ESTABLISHMENT" and that would be 100% legal in Arizona because those are my "religious beliefs?"

Yes, but fully expect outrage aimed in your direction for discriminating against Christians. You could get away with discriminating against Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, Sikhs, maybe even the odd Jew, but Christians are a big no no.

Remember you're living in a Christian nation, founded by Christians, on Christian principles for Christians and the advancement of Christianity.

Even Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich have said they would veto the bill. Hell, even Pat McCrory said he would too. The only major politician I've seen endorse this bill is (/joke who would have guessed! /joke) Ken Cuccinelli.

We are moments away from Gov. Jan Brewer (R-Mars) making a statement announcing her decision on the bill on CNN.

SHE VETOED THE BILL! She said it was broadly worded, unnecessary, and could cause more problems then it could solve.

I'm thrilled it was vetoed. Just wish it had been for "seriously, this is unconstitutional and WRONG" reasons rather than so obviously motivated by the threat of a major economic fallout. Oh, well. The important thing is it got shot down.

Thank god it was vetoed! My one friend was fighting about this on a facebook status the other day with some family member living in Arizona who thought the bill was great idea...this dude was an absolute eff up, he gave no good arguments.

That's just horrible. There is no was someone should have the right to discriminate against anybody.
