    YAY!!!!
I always said that Texas would not be one of the last states to get SSM.
Texas is changing a lot in demographics and becoming more progressive as a result. It will most likely be a blue state in the not to distant future.

    Wow! That's amazing.

I think so much of this is going to depend on who the US district court judge is for the state in question.

These are appointed by the president in power at the time, so you can have liberal judges in conservative states, and vice-versa.

So this moves to the 5th Circuit...

Anyone know about the composition of that court?

When I saw one of my friends share this on Facebook, we were both amazed and flabbergasted.

I'm not that involved in politics and I cba to understand it. As a result, I don't know the composition about the 5th circuit court.

You really know the dominoes are falling when even Texas's ban is struck down. Hopefully it won't be long until the Supreme Court settles this for all 50 states.

Cue Ted Cruz crying about States rights, and throwing bible verses out of his mouth.

I believe the 5th Circuit, headquartered in New Orleans, is one of the most conservative courts. You basically got Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi; how more "conservative" can you get? Last I checked, most were Reagan and Bush appointees.

But that doesn't mean I'm not dancing because the district court case was a few miles from my home, so it's pretty nice to be this close to a "major" ruling.

This is going to go the Supreme Court probably, if Utah, Oklahoma, or Virginia doesn't get there before it

This is pretty interesting when conservative justices are ruling on the law and not on their conservative beliefs. I can imagine it must be gut wrenching for them to write decisions that go against their religious beliefs, and I honestly see it as courageous.

Of course, you can bet that Texas won't take this lying down. Be interesting to see what comes about next.

Exactly what Rick Perry has already done, as well as misinterpret the 10th Amendment.

It's scary how someone who knows absolutely nothing about Federalism and the idea that the Supremacy of Federal Law could get elected anywhere.

This is fantastic! Yeah, it'll be contested - it's still Texas - but this is great! I never would have expected this to happen so soon after DOMA died.

Striking the ban down is one thing. I won't truly accept that Texas is capable of this until it is 100% complete. Right now, they are only half way there. The appeals are coming in.

It'll be appealed and probably appealed again but this is getting harder and harder for SCOTUS to ignore. Yay for Equal Protection Under the Law!
