This may be better off in the gaming section, but I'll share it here since I find it news worth; gamer or not.

UGHHHH... they're trying to pressure everyone into getting a WiiU and 3DS.
Oh well, at least I have a 3DS. Thanks for the warning!

I don't care for the Wii U and I don't own a DS; so I don't see the point in upgrading. Someone at tech support said it's like how we left VHS to go to DVD.

Personally, as long as services like using the Internet or things like Youtube, Hulu and Netflix aren't affected; it doesn't affect me personally. I just find it silly, even if the number of people using in-game services are declining. You still have an audience, much like with how XP managed to survive so long.

    I don't use a Wii, so no need for a Wii U.

And luckily I got a nice new red 3DS XL for Christmas, although I lost the Pokemon X version I had played hundreds of hours with it, so I'm too upset to play any game on it now.

But Nintendo has always been a money-hungry, screw-its-own-fans-for-an-extra-yen kinda corporate giant, so a completely unnecessary move like this to force customers to buy new hardware is not at all surprising coming from Nintendo.

If they didn't have a monopoly on some of my favorite software franchises (Pokemon, Zelda, SSB), I'd have ditched them long ago.

Now don't be so quick to judge the company. They've been hit by some pretty bad financial times recently, with the whole WiiU business and all. It makes sense why they're doing this if you think about it.

#1: Online servers cost money and effort to maintain, so in the long run, they'll have more money and server space for projects in the future.
#2: Yes, they're pressuring people to get a 3DS and/or a WiiU, but can you really blame them? The executives had to cut their own salaries as punishment for how poorly the WiiU did.

Sorry I went on kinda a rant... I'm kinda guilty of being a Nintendo fan boy, but you're still entitled to your own opinion.

Sure gonna miss playing brawl online! D:

ALL regular DS and Wii games that use the wifi connection.

I still think they shouldn't drop support for the Pokemon games and Mario Kart Wii/Super Smash Bros for the Wii. :/ Those communities are still huge.

The five people who still play on the Wii must be devastated!!!

 Yeah, me and the other four (most under 12) are pretty beat up about this shit. How are we ever going to play our crappy run-throughs of Sonic and Mario at the Cash Broke Olympics?

Even though I'm a huge nintendo fan, I'm not really that beat up about this... guess I just never used the wi-fi capabilities that much save for Pokemon and I don't really have any need for those now that X and Y are out.

Yeah, you know what? My sisters play on WiFi but it kind of amazes me that anyone's still out there playing Mario Kart over it. Like, at this point are they all COMs or something?

I dunno, haha. I remember doing a race with like 4 other people not too long ago, so I suppose people are still into it.

There is still a very large amount of Mario Kart players.

Of course, the pressuring of people to buy new games to play with their friends online...
