I was reading the comments on this article and was just bewildered. People were saying things like "Why do they have to flaunt their sexual orientation at a "holiday" parade? Maybe us heterosexuals should flaunt ours!"

I was just like, "You guys flaunt your heterosexuality every day. You can go out and flaunt it whenever you want and not have to worry about being attacked or disrespected for it."

Yeah, people who cry about gays flaunting their sexuality are some of the biggest hypocrites in the world. As if simply existing or showing affection to your significant other is "flaunting" something. They've probably never once in their lives complained about straight people "flaunting" their sexuality.

    Ford didn't pull their support.

    Glad I didn't buy a Ford when I last bought a car.

Anyone else find it weird that the organisers of this parade keep repeating that it's supposed to be a "fun, safe, family day out" yet they were sponsored by two booze companies?

I hate that argument. When heterosexual people say things about "Do they have to shove it in our faces?" and I think what they mean is "How about they just hide their sexuality because I get uncomfortable I'd rather just not believe they existed." Most of the time I can only think "You know what I hate? Heterosexuals flaunting it. Like, ew, a straight kiss in a movie? You can be straight, but I don't want to see it!"

Good point. Homosexuality doesn't lead to many births.

And to add insult to injury, guess who was allowed to march - http://www.pinknews.co.uk/2014/03/1...boston-st-patricks-parade-gays-remain-banned/ - Safe, family friendly day for all my arse

So the message seems to be if you serve the US in a military capacity with honour and distinction but happen to be gay then you win the right to have a committee ban you from matching in a veterans parade. But if you advocate violence, discrimination and God knows what else against gay people then you're more than welcome to march.

If they're going to let scum like him march then I say we just boycott it completely.

I don't see the reason as to why these companies would back out. Sure they don't let an LGBT group to be in the parade, but that's not even remotely what the parade is about. It's supposed to be about celebrating St. Patricks day and Irish culture. It's not a gay pride parade or anything. Also they do allow gay people to march, just not LGBT grouos holding signs and shit

Yeah, I kind of agree with this. There are LGBT parades at other times. So I see your point. But over at The Daily Beast, Michael Tomasky pointed out that LGBT people have been allowed to parade at St. Patricks Day. In fucking Dublin. So I don't how if they allow it in the capital city of Eire, the country that Saint bloody Patrick is from they can't let it happen at the parades in New York (where they have marriage equality) and Boston. Particularly when that noxious weed Scott Lively was allowed to take part. Pretty poor imo.
