And he was ex-communicated from his own church :roflmao:

Son of Fred Phelps Sr. says father voted out of church | CJOnline.com

He caused a lot of pain to a lot of people, so I'm not remotely sad about this.

I never rejoice in the death of another human being, but I can't say I'll be shedding any tears over the passing of this spiteful man.

I saw some comments and one asked if Veterans should picket his funeral...I really hope they don't. Be better than this sad person

but no I would never celebrate the death of a person

I feel sorry for him. I wonder if he has ANY shred of remorse. I also wonder if, as time goes by, these groups will sort of disband as they lose relevance and critical mass. That will be interesting to see.

Again, any death is sad. But there are a few people I'm not losing any sleep over.

He devoted the better part of his life to his 'cause', inflicting pain on others, and what does he have to show for it - Excommunicated and on his death bed. i wonder whats going through his mind.

Woah. They buried the lead. He was excommunicated from his own church?

It's not shocking that Fred is on his death bed. He's not exactly a spring chicken. If we are lucky he will die quickly and be swiftly exiled to the trashcan of history where he belongs, and if we're really lucky the church will start to fracture and collapse after his death.

My guess is that Fred wasn't in too good of health, and the church elders needed to figure out a way to sustain the church after his death. This likely led to some type of internal power struggle, and that ultimately ended up with him getting the boot. It might have been caused from him refusing to step down and name a successor, or not backing the right person to replace him. In either case, this has internal power struggle written all over it.

It'll be interesting to see how things play out, and it's my hope that once he's gone the shit hits the fan and they start ripping into each other. That could result in a schism and ultimately a collapse of the church itself.

I'll be laughing my ass off if they start excommunicating one another publicly.

A man that perverts religion in such a manner surely shall have what's coming to him in the afterlife.

  12. I'm not sure if I should be happy or sad. He was a spiteful man but how did he get kicked out of the church? I'm not going to give a giant hate speech about him now, but I hope he feels regret for what he did with his life.

I agree. That would also most likely backfire.

God can decide what happens to him. He knows the full story.

At the very least the world will have one less ignorant hateful person.

I, for one, am happy. I'd drink to that if I didn't have to concentrate right now.

Good. One less evil person in the world. I'm not gonna respect the death of a man who never once in his life respected the death of others.

I'm following his own golden rule: Do unto others as you would have done unto yourself

He picketed funerals and disrespected the dead, I hope someone does unto him the same.

This seems like a good way for his story here to end. I just hope that he manages to feel even a small part of the pain and suffering that he caused others before he passes on. I agree that his funeral should not be picketed, because we are better than whatever vile trash he is. We must not allow ourselves to become poisonous like him and his followers. It only creates more problems instead of fixing them. Poison always runs full circle anyways, just like his has.

Well. God didn't love him enough, eh, to save the poor bastard from languishing in some hospice.

Even if he faces God himself, Mr. Phelps will probably not repent. Good for the worms that they will soon be fed.
