In terms of orientation I certainly don't find that surprising results at all.

Bring in gender identity discrimination I think things would be different though.

    I'm guessing...asexuals.

Hmm, yeah. Well...it's the minority, and the minority is often marginalised. It's interesting to see what people think of the 'deviants', though it is unfortunate that they think so. :/

I don't understand. What reason could there possibly be to hate asexuals? I can understand that people might think it's weird, but I can't think of any reason a person could dislike asexuality.

Makes people feel bad about having sexual desires, when they feel shame about sexuality?

    I'm not sure either.

The study suggested people think asexuals lack other emotions besides sexual desire, so maybe they're thinking of the 'loner serial killer' stereotype. Which is ironic, given how most serial killers are sexually motivated.

How could you hate asexual people?

I mean, what's the point? Is there anything to hate really?

    *is confused*

What's there to hate about them?
And I'm a bit confused, I know they're sometimes forgotten about, and bullied by people for being "weird," but I've never seen people bully asexuals in the same way gay and trans people are. And I'm not seeing any laws that forbid asexuality and people wanting to put them to death.

    So just a tad confused.

I'm a little confused too considering most of the asexuals I know don't make their sexual orrientations obvious, but it's not too shocking.
I've heard recently that some asexuals have become targets for "corrective" rape, it's pretty sad. Asexuals aren't any less human than we are, why can't people get that? :frowning2:

The study showed that bisexuals were the subject of the most intention to discriminate.
It also showed bisexuals and asexuals as equally subject to intended avoidance.

It didn't show anything about discrimination in practice, and the closest measures to actual discrimination implicated bisexuals at an equal or larger measure than asexuals.

Subjects were also a handful of Canadian students completing an internet survey, and I don't need to point out the limitations in that (especially with regards to attitudes towards sexual activity).

Yes, asexual prejudice is a problem. But this study absolutely did not show that asexuals are more discriminated against.

It's aimed towards LGBTQ people: Corrective rape - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Some people think they can change someone's sexual orrientation/gender identity to "normal" by raping them.
It's become common in South Africa.

Pre-reading prediction: I think it's asexuals, because people try to say that it doesn't exist, when it obviously does.

Yep... I really hate seeing any kind of discrimination.

Yeah I believe this. I think I would be a hypocrite to disrespect any kind of orientation and I think asexual is the least respected and talked about orientation because of how the media and society glamorizes sexual activity and people can't understand how people can not have sexual urges and shut them out.

Oh, would you look at that. No orientation is safe. Gotta love being gay and asexual. It's like a double whammy.
