I know exactly two things about Sweden, Abba & Yohio. That being said I highly doubt there's anything even approaching the level of depravity, sadism and evil that the North Korean government and it's apparatus inflicts on it's people in Sweden.

Pat Robertson would do well to go read up on some accounts by North Korean defectors before he goes comparing another country to North Korea.

From all the times I have visited Sweden it seems pretty much like any other Scandinavian country: pretty peaceful and safe outside of a extremist right-wing minority that sometimes do shitty things (which to be fair I think all countries have). Comparing it to North Korea is like comparing The Shire to Mordor.

I sometimes wonder what my mother will watch on tv when he's gone. She watches him like the rain man watched the Peoples court.

Sweden is currently run by a conservative government and has a lot of right-wing problems, especially racism/nationalism. It's not even properly socialist, and basically everyone in power is white, and most are still men.

I hardly think that's a socialist utopia. What's this guy's idea of political neutrality, then? One woman per hundred male politicians? One left-wing media outlet to ten far-right?

Basically everyone in Sweden is white, so I would hope that everyone in power is white too, it would be weird if a bunch of African's were running that country.

Their right-wing, is still heavily leftist, most countries like Sweden, Canada, Finland, Iceland...etc don't really have a real "right-wing" in the way that America and other Republics do.

It's more you are extreme left, or just left.

Actually, Sweden has a significant ethnic population - in proportion to its population, it's probably more significant than the UK, Germany or the Netherlands - which is contrary to the popular notion that Sweden is a homogenous society. You would expect the overwhelming majority of people in government to be white though, considering it's the overwhelming ethnic group. It seems fairly representative I think.

Sweden is seeing something that all other western European countries are seeing - a sharp and worrying rise in far-right parties that are blatantly racist and/or xenophobic, probably in response to the significant rise in the immigrant population over the past 15 years, especially in countries like Sweden and Denmark, which are dealing with their first significant generation of immigrants. The recent riots in a predominantly-immigrant Stockholm suburb have probably helped fuel the feeling of unease that some 'native' Swedes are feeling at the moment.

I guess you have to keep in mind that countries like Australia, Canada and the US are built upon immigration, and have been seeing large-scale immigration for a lot longer than western Europe (large-scale immigration didn't start in the UK until the 1960s). The decline in 'native' Brits as a percentage of the population is rather striking - the change in our demographics is completely unprecedented, and it's the same in Sweden as well. A period of adjustment is needed, I think.

Few countries in the world could be described as 'properly socialist' - Sweden is a capitalist economy through and through. It's closer to a socialist ideal than North America though, and indeed Australia (i.e it has a significant social safety net, very low levels of income inequality and poverty in general). Also, for what it's worth, Sweden's government is 45% female.

Weird, when I think of Sweden, I usually don't think human rights violations and and being forced into labor camps for questioning the government or their actions. Honestly tough, in my opinion, Sweden is one of the few countries in the world that is doing something right. Must be I haven't been manipulated by right-wingers yet.
