No, it wouldn't be catastrophic to Christians EVERYWHERE. It would just be catastrophic to those abusing their religions to promote a hate agenda.

He does, the CofE is practically dead in England, there is some debate over disestablishing it and moving to full state secularity. Most extreme Anglicans are from parts of Africa who claim gay rights in unafrican etc.

So its Africans manipulating opinion in the UK about people they are so brainwashed (based on Uganda) they won't even try to understand what a gay person is

From article: "And he said religious figures in South Sudan had pleaded with him not to change Church policy because it would mean they could no longer accept help from England."

Uh oh. How will they survive? ... When the money stops, I bet they'll change their mind.

Plus, how did militant Africans associate Christian=gay in the first place?! The whole thing is sad.

Justin Welby used a completely different set of reasons to oppose same sex marriage in The UK House of Lords. It's only within the last few days that he has trotted out this argument to support his earlier position. It seems to me, he's clutching at straws.

The annoying thing for me, as a member of the Church of England is that there hasn't even been a reasoned attempt to canvas opinion amongst the laity or clergy, many of whom support same sex marriage and equal rights. If this issue could be determined locally, the majority of congregations within the Church of England would open their doors to same sex couples wishing to marry. The Bishops are out of touch and a rebellion is brewing.
