Haha that's a bit of an understatement. Finally we have a hot young gay celebrity athlete for people like me to swoon over...and have a nonzero percent chance of actually one day being with due to orientation. (Even though the chance is still pretty darn close to zero lol)

The only thing bad about this is that it further reinforces the stereotype that bisexual people are secretly gay or still confused. Other than that, good for him!

My dad is actually angry about this and said he wasn't gay back then when he was younger .

***says the man who is still unsure if he is gay or bisexual. I realize the irony there.

I love annoying one of my friends by saying "Back when I was straight" (knowing full well that I was born gay). Tom Daley's "I'm a gay man now is sort of reminiscent of that.

As for the stereotype that bisexual people are gay or confused... the sad truth is, a *lot* of gay people use the "bisexual" label during the "bargaining" phase of the process of accepting themselves. And I don't think that will ever change. But I also think that people with any common sense realize there's a difference between someone who's genuinely bisexual and someone who's early on in their self-exploration process.

I'm glad he's confident enough to come out as gay. Conratulations to him. He definitely sets an example.
I've been in his place even though I didn't come out publicly so I totally understand what he went through.

What can I say, it's always been a virtue of mine. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Thanks to your agreeable Tom Daley pic, btw, I dreamed about a guy that looked like him. Except wearing more clothing. And another party in my dream thwarted my interest in him. So you may have a shot yet.

He doesn't shave his legs. He's my hero.

Anyway, it never mattered to me if hes straight/bi/gay but it actually seems like the route im gonna take when im going out, so in a way I can understand why he did that

Hehe I wish that show was still on. Side note: anyone know where I could buy that show on DVD/download?

Also...with Tom Daley being gay, I knew it. I have no proof of this, but I did. This is good too to have another gay celebrity, and he's an Olympian and nice.

When he came out everyone presumed he was gay anyway, so this really isn't news.

It does reinforce the 'bi today, gay tomorrow' stereotype though and will annoy bi people as he obviously is not bisexual at all. You don't just wake up and say' I am not bi but gay now' and he used to "still like girls".

I seriously thought he was already out as gay...

And during the London games' diving events I could have sworn they said something about him coming out to his family as gay or something, not that that's relevant in any way to the diving he was there to showcase.

In any case, 'grats to him.

Well a lot of gay people don't fully develop, accept or realize their true sexual identity until
their late teens/early twenties. I chased girls when I was younger but was never really into them sexually, but I was always drawn to men. We live in a hetero normative society so many LGBT people don't always come to terms with who they are until they grow up.

There's a difference between someone who is questioning, and someone who says they are bi knowing they are gay.

Otherwise, good that he has come out as who he is.
