This makes me a bit worried over how this ruling will go...

A win is guaranteed at SCOTUS, though. We have the swing vote in Kennedy. He can't backtrack on his stances in gay rights after his previous decisions.

I wonder if the case will make it there in time...if we lose just one more justice to a Republican nominee, we're pretty much doomed for a long, long while.

I'd like to be optimistic, but I really am pretty nervous. The Republicans now have more money than ever before to pump into politics, and I know many will stop at nothing to deny gay marriage. I'm crossing my fingers, but I'm worried.

there is some hope for the Republican party coming around. There was an editorial in our Wyoming newspapers about a month ago supporting same sex marriage. This Editorial was signed by 7 Republican members of the state legislature. In addition this commercial has former US Senator Alan Simpson R WY endorsing same sex marriage as well. They are coming around, it just takes time to steer the boat.

Here is the link to the editorial I mentioned above

The question is does said boat have power steering, or does it make wide turns? I think the conservative spectrum if the US political system will eventually get with the program, but I personally think it'll take another 4-8 years before they finally have a majority... maybe longer. It would be terrific if both major US Parties supported gay rights, and it would drive the religious right either out of relevance in politics or drive them towards the center.

I sure hope the court will rule for equality. The same circuit court will hear the Oklahoma marriage case on the 17th. I think they'll both be victories for us since the states have nothing credible to support the marriage ban. Their "case" makes no sense. Excluding us from marriage doesn't encourage straight couples to marry and have kids. Including us doesn't discourage others from marrying.
