    I thought he was going to be Mr. Irrelevant as we were approaching the end of the draft. In any event, his talent will determine what kind of NFL player he is, and he is certainly an inspiration to LGBT people everywhere, particularly LGBT athletes.

    Haha I couldn't give two shits about the NFL, I honestly have no freaking clue how that whole football game thing actually works, I remember being forced to play it in high school gym class and I just ran around aimlessly hoping nobody threw the ball to me cuz I wouldn't know what the hell to do with it, I'd rather watch paint dry than watch a football game...

    But with all that said, congrats to Michael Sam on breaking down this barrier in professional sports. The video of him tearing up and hugging and kissing his cute Italian boyfriend Vito was heartwarming- gay kisses airing on ESPN! I heard they played the video multiple times.

    Gay interracial kissing on ESPN, the homosexual agenda invading the good ol' symbol of American patriotism and masculinity, football... that should be sure to get the good Christian conservatives in the 'heartland' riled up!

    And thanks to Michael Sam for showing the world that not all gay men are skinny white femme boys who hate sports like I am. :grin:

    Even if he did tear up like a little girl when he got the news just like I would. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

    Loved the part when he got the news and cried and kissed his boyfriend. When I saw it on ESPN, they referred to his boyfriend as his "partner."

    This is actually a common scene when a guy gets drafted to the NFL. After years of commitment and dedication to the game that they love so that they can have a career in it, the moment finally comes when they get drafted. It is an emotional moment in many ways in a young man's life. They will commonly be at home with family and their significant other while waiting for the call. When they get the call, they will break down and cry and kiss their significant other. The only difference in this case is that Sam's significant other is a guy. And contrary to popular belief, straight men will cry in these situations too.

    I was just watching ESPN with friends. One being one of two people I'm out to and the other a long time friend. They didn't know who he was.

    And when that message popped up on the screen I kind of died a little on the inside and had to leave the room.

    Congrats to Michael! I hope he has a long and successful career and is a positive role model, especially for GLBT athletes accepting their sexuality. I wonder how long it'll be until a players orientation is no more relevant than his/her eye color. I hope to see that day.
