I had not known the impact of this illustrious McGill law professor's career until today.

If Canada was among the first nations in the world to recognize same-sex marriage, it is not only to politicians that we, in the LGBT community owe a debt of gratitude, but also to mavericks like Prof. Macdonald who provided the legal framework that made it happen.

This also made me reflect on the necessity of honouring those who've made real and lasting contributions to making this a better country, they ought to be more well-known.
