I found this story quite interesting.

And also, that among these CEOs, only 5% are women.

The first black CEO was appointed only 15 years ago.

Interesting, to note who holds 'power', as it were.

Except it isn't true. Tim Cook, Apple CEO, is out and open about his sexuality. He doesn't talk about it much, but he doesn't shy say from it either. And I am pretty sure there are others as well.

The women numbers are caused by life choices. Such as less STEM degrees taken by woman and more woman going on paternity leave.

Past racism has meant that it's going to take time for black people to catch up and for them to have a higher percentage of CEO.

I don't think people's race, sexuality, gender or any other group they below to effects the decisions they make as a CEO.

OK, so one out of 1,000.

But I don't hear of many open ones, I guess the NYT missed one, here. But the ratios of non-straight-white males is pretty staggering, one would have to admit. I mean, it's about 96% white, straight males...just a tad unrepresentative.

I believe there may be more, it's just they might not have made their sexuality a public ordeal :/ but who knows?

You forgot to mention that it's only within the US, not the top 1,000 companies in the world.

And yes, it is rather horrifying, but on top of that, add how there are only really white people, especially white men, and those men come from upper-middle or upper class backgrounds almost all of the time. And how many have disabilities? And even with Tim Cook, a gay, abled and rich white man isn't that revolutionary given that being gay is his only real social challenge.

I think that it's also a generational thing. In 30 years, those numbers will likely be quite different.

Just because some people have 'private lives' doesn't mean there aren't any LGBTQ* people,
The need to fill 'quotas' is counter productive,
Rather tackle the social issue than try and restructure something.

Seeing as 72.4% of Americans fall into the 'white' category regarding race,
It's not exactly a shock that they're in majority.

    So? Corporations bad!

Corporations support gay rights so as to get money by attracting more LGBT customers and employees.
