But, really. If HIV was created to punish/warn gay people, how come straight people can get it? If it was designed specifically for gay people, wouldn't straight people be immune to it?

HIV and AIDS came originally through the Haitian population in Florida. The LGBT community just unfortunately happened to be hit hard by hit. It's a shame this haunts the community too.

 

What about the millions of heterosexuals suffering from HIV? Those AIDS Orphans in Africa are they being warned about something as well?

Such ignorance. HIV sprouted from SIV (Simian Immunodeficiency Virus) from chimpanzees. Viruses are able to cross species, and what species is closest to humans? Monkeys! How the LGBT community is blamed for this is from male escorts from highly populated cities. And no, it's not from gay sex, it's anal sex.

 

Yet according to the CDC, a much more scientific branch of government, 85,000 people died of AIDS caused by the HIV that they got from heterosexual sex.

 

If gays only get it how come everyone gay and straight gets it

Homosexuality has been around as long as humans have, HIV, about 30 years (if you don't count that heterosexual sailor/printer who died of AIDS when he contracted HIV in the early 60's Arvid Noe - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia). If this is Nature's way, it certainly took its time...

...and maybe, just maybe, if you absolutely have to have an explanation for cause and effect, you may consider that homosexuals were the canary in the coal mine that suffered this calamity before it mainly affected heterosexuals.

One could make the argument that AIDS activism, mostly led by the LGBT community in the early days, spurred the necessary research into this disease and the development of the drugs we have today...maybe then you can say that those LGBT folk who suffered this disaster inadvertently prevented an even more widespread pandemic...

Actually, both Bushes, and Reagan. That's really where it all began, in ways, with Reagan, and his courting of vehemently anti-gay supporters such as Pat Roberson, Jerry Falwell, Ralph Reed and others. Reagan's closeness to the Religious right and his emphasis on the values of a 'traditional' America would cement homophobia as Republican policy for decades.

 

My parents and the church they belong to. I had to hear sermons when growing up in the nineties that basically said the same thing, that AIDS was a punishment from God for the wicked. A girl in that congregation could suppose that since AIDS affected gay males way more than lesbians, God must've been okay with us.
