Homosexuality must not be presented as an acceptable alternative lifestyle, in public policy, nor should family be redefined to include homosexual couples. We believe there should be no granting of special legal entitlements or creation of special status for homosexual behavior, regardless of state of origin.
<------ In case you missed it, that's Texas giving your federally mandated equal rights the middle finger.

----> [Additionally, we oppose any criminal or civil penalties against those who oppose homosexuality out of faith, conviction, or belief in traditional values.] --- "So, in other words, we're declaring open season for all you homophobes out there." <------

We recognize the legitimacy and value of counseling which offers reparative therapy and treatment to patients who are seeking escape from the homosexual lifestyle. No laws or executive orders shall be imposed to limit or restrict access to this type of therapy. <------ But we won't protect you from any violent gay-bashers out there, if you decide to seek out 'therapy'.

Yeah, this shit makes me sick. And the worse part is that even in as much as people hate Obama, at least he's had the good sense to take the equal rights issues to new heights.

    Reasons why I don't vote
    Reason #561 -- Republican bigots.

  5. Before, the Republican party was a very respected political party. Now, they are a total joke. Luckily, we still have our moderates like John McCain and Neel Kashkari.

That's true, and without going too far off topic, that's a whole other can of worms. We as Americans as a whole, have given up far too much of our personal freedoms 'in the name of protecting freedom' which is quite funny and sad at the same time. The government keeps hammering down this idea that THEY know exactly what's best for us, and people just "sheep" out and believe what they're told.

Agreed with the majority of this post, but McCain is a moderate?

Anyone who votes Republican is an idiot, sorry to say. It's one thing to be "conservative", it's another to associate yourself with a group that is consistently anti-gay and willfully ignorant\deceptive on every single issue.

If it wasn't clear before, Republicanism is a mental illness.

Any LGBTQ person who votes GOP is voting against their livelihood.

Republicans are good when it comes to financial and economic issues, but they need to learn to keep their goddamn hands off of any social issues.

This is such a tired old myth. How are they "good" when it comes to financial and economic issues apart from throwing money at corporations\1% and cutting social programs?

He is compared to many other republicans. My conservative parents however consider him and Christie "flaming liberals". Mother has a particular hatred for Christie however, due to his stand on conversion therapy for juveniles. She thinks it should not only be allowed, but mandatory. It was at her suggestion that the parents of my first GF got sent to one.

I think that's one of the great political suicide notes in history

Only way the Republicans are getting votes from that is from people who think the democrats are communist

Neel Kashkari has no chance this year. I was really pulling for Tim Donnelly to win the primary just so that the debates would be that more entertaining. It'd be funnier than this:

On a serious note, the moderates are about gone. John "Build a fence on the border" McCain is hardly a moderate, and Neel Kashkari is pretty much only a Republican by California standards. Anywhere else, he'd be a Democrat.

As a Texas resident I am glad to see that state transitioning to purple, shit like this will help push it to blue.

I was thinking this same thing. The only people who will like that plank are the ones who would vote for them anyway. Ignoring all the legitimate medical associations' opinion on human sexuality should turn off anyone with any knowledge of reality. What a very stupid thing to add to their platform. There is no "legitimacy and value" in counseling people to not be gay and there is no such thing as a "gay lifestyle." That phrase alone tells you how ignorant they are.

I've actually considered ex-gay therapy, but there aren't any programs in Atlanta, at least not that I know of. They don't work. Plus, I don't want to be attracted to men, I just want to get rid of my romantic/sexual attraction altogether.
