Hmm. I heard that the Cherokee nation has allowed same-sex marriages in their territory for years. They believe any two people can be bound by love. So the U.S. always argued with them about it.

I heard this while in Oklahoma, because my family was trying to see if we were part Native American on grandma's side.

That's cool! It reminds me of a story of an Indian couple (from real India) who had their relationship ratified by their village and community, and were given a baby to adopt... does anyone remember that story?
