Cue the right-wing outrage and screams of religious freedom being violated

    This...

Is a problem as a state employee. Yes. There are "laws" to protect me and other transgender people, but there are always ways to circumvent them.

"Creative budget cuts " and "unsatisfactory performance reviews".

Haha, well it looks like I'll be working as a federal contractor if Texas doesn't change the laws in the next couple of years.

I had incorrectly thought that marital status and sexual orientation discrimination was disallowed, or something for which the law offered protection, right alongside gender discrimination in states that had the latter on their books. I was wrong.

Somewhere, there is a state by state checklist, tabulated as a grid, as to what is protected in terms of discrimination and some, actually many, states are far behind. As for which and where these states are, the pattern is more or less the same across the years.
