LGBT News Rick Perry: I 'Stepped Right In It' With Comments About Gays

Well he is good at backpedaling at least XD. I still think he's prejudiced against gays, but doesn't want that to hinder his popularity.

Why does no one make the simple point that even with the strongest genetic predisposition for alcoholism, people will never become an alcoholic if they don't drink alcohol?

Gay people are gay even if we've never had any sexual interaction with others of the same gender.

The stupid comparison that he repeated (he's not the first one to say this) is not valid. I wish someone who interviewed him would point that out to him. Sadly, people who can't or won't think for themselves are out there repeating this bullshit and propagating the cycle of ignorant lies.

 

That's part of the problem. Some of these people only believe you are gay if you choose to have sexual interaction with someone of the same sex. They believe it is a label you give yourself like Republican or Democrat through your choices. They are unable to see it as an inherent state of being in their worldview. Rather than change their worldview, they choose to ignore the vast amount of proof they are wrong. As long as you aren't acting on it, they label you a straight person who struggles with a mental disorder that makes you feel attraction to the same sex. When you act on it, then you become "gay" which is basically synonymous with "unrepentant sinner". Someone to be reviled because you challenge their worldview and their understanding of their God.

 

You might be right. By that "logic" they must also think that they are straight even if they only fantasize about the same gender, as long as they are married to the opposite gender. Fortunately some of them will break free of the societal pressure they feel and fewer people will ever feel that pressure to pretend to be who they are not.
