LGBT News Finnish legal committee votes against gay marriage

Somehow I thought it was more enlightened there.

 

I was so angry to read about this too! We still have hope though, waiting for the voting in autumn..

Attitudes are changing, yesterday there were 20 000 people in Helsinki Pride, whereas last year there were something like 9000. Im pretty sure people were dissapointed because of the legal committee's decicion and wanted to show it by participating the Pride parade.

 

I'm disappointed and surprised since as the article says, "Finland is the only Nordic country not to have introduced a gender-neutral marriage law." Hopefully the Parliament will make it right. What real reasons do they have not to include gay couples in marriage? Probably the same false reasons it's taking so long here and elsewhere.

 

I'm surprised. I was under the impression that all of the Nordic countries had already legalized gay marriage.

 

I'm suprised as well, I thought they were more progressive up there. -.-

I know, it's so awkward how Sweden and other Nordic Countries are ahead of Finland. At the same moment, the leaders of our country regard Finland as very equal and are proud of it...

 

So sad...but im sure it will become legal soon!
