I don't know.. maybe it would solve the problem of hateful 'Christians'. After all, if you have been marked by the Angels, you don't need hygiene or medicine, because that would imply you don't have trust in God. /s

Seriously: I hope that they'll find a cure as past as possible or are able to quarantine the disease entirely. I wouldn't even wish Ebola on a person like this (also because he might spread it to good people).

 

I hope that some day my immediate reaction to something like this is a calm and well-thought-out response. This man sounds like my pastor, and it makes me sick to hear things like this. The only thing I can think to say, that is logical and not heated or aggitated, is, if there is a God who does want to purge the earth, wouldn't everybody be killed by this virus because "all sins are the same". Other than that, I feel like the faults in this story and the pastor's statements are obvious and I won't go into it lest I get further frustrated.

I'd imagine a lot of the deceased were God fearing, so that kind of blows a hole in his argument. Anyway if God really did want to do something about atheism, homosexuality, sexual promiscuity, pornography and abortion in America, then being all powerful and all, he could probably put together a disease that would target Americans related to the aforementioned "evils" rather than several third world countries.

 

It's hard to catch ebola since it can only be spread by bodily fluids and isn't airborne.

 

I hear education can 'solve' stupidity. Unfortunately, there's too much of that damn ignorance vaccine.

Besides, it's not entirely clear how Ebola is transmitted: Prevention | Ebola Hemorrhagic Fever | CDC and people who have been treating infected people have become infected themselves (and I don't think they had sex with their patients!). Medical workers wearing full protective suits can catch it..

 

I don't get it, Jesus explicitly teaches NOT to hate and in the Bible often hangs out with prostitutes and such. So when Christians go on these crazy hate rampages it's like.. have you ever even picked up the Bible? Do they know it exists? If they read it and followed it they would not have these attitudes.

 

Even ignoring the obvious things, he should do some research about Ebola in general.

The chances of it ever reaching epidemic/pandemic status in any developed country is extremely low, if not impossible. It's not airborne, so it's actually really easy to quarantine.

However, in the countries the outbreaks are happening in, they don't have the necessary facilities to do so.
