Geez...here we go again with that motif of "everything stupid, unusual, and weird comes out of the Sunshine State" :bang:. Remind me to never move there. I hope a hurricane destroys their church. Just absolutely disgusting and left me abhorred here. :tantrum:

Just another day in Florida. Every other state get's marriage for the WHOLE state, we get it for chicken county. Gay man dies here, no funeral for him because he's gay. Think I'd rather take my chances with earthquakes in Cali. least they're progressive [period].

Is there a monthly quota of stupid that churches in America have to reach or something?

I never understood how you can be free from religious persecution whilst maintaining the ability to persecute people based on your religion?

One unfortunately cannot argue reason with an unreasonable opponent. They are beyond help and only when they die of old age will we be free of these kinds of ideas.

What's worse is the thought that THEY would somehow be punished by God for giving this person a proper send-off. Just how big of a sin is it to be gay anyway? You could suicide bomb a preschool and still get a funeral.

I like to think of it this way. With all of the scientists and Gay people that are sent to hell, I bet it is both tastefully decorated and air conditioned by now. (I'm thinking scatter cushions EVERYWHERE!)

Yes, please don't ever move there. You'd totally regret it. I lived in Florida with my dad for 6 months last year. The only thing I liked about that experience was that I got to go to a public school. Pretty much everyone there was a narcissistic asshole, who thought they were more classy than me simply because I'm from Atlanta, even though they let their 10 year old girls run around in daisy dukes and boob flashing tank-tops. And this isn't even counting the homophobia. :bang:

Not to mention all of the kick-ass parties, down there!

If thats the case I will make reservations.

But its just terrible, just makes me angry to think they make such a big deal out of it. I mean what would they have done if they found out he was gay after? Have him dug up?

I suggest we hold a funeral for this church's sensibility.

It is terribly missed, if it, at all, even existed.

It sounds like something my local church would do.

I saw this headline this morning. I scanned it. I was disgusted.

This congregation's decision is going to provoke a lot of anger. Hopefully, the person or people responsible for making that decision will get fired.

Back to my theory, if churches didn't expend so much energy moralizing on sex and LGBT issues, HALF of their work would go out the door. It's "make work." For sick places like Westboro in Kansas, it's ALL of their work.

This guy was ill for something like 4 years and what ailed him sounded atrocious. Churches routinely bury outright tyrants in the world of government and business as long as they're 100% straight and they breed, but they can't give this poor soul the memorial service he deserved.

Yes, and most southern states have even higher quotas.

Sorry for my language but f,,, these people, I'm sick of hearing how lgbt folk get discriminated against by some religious bodies. They really need to grow up and realize that the founder of their religion would never have behaved as they do, in any case. It's so cruel. How would the grieving parents feel? Do they think about that?
