I agree with this decision, unfortunately too many states don't have such laws. Same with employment discrimination laws. As with all the other similar cases I'm sure the owners of this place didn't refuse service to divorced people remarrying or or others living in "sin". I wish their hypocrisy was emphasized more loudly. That's what is so reprehensible about these cases. They only exclude gay people.

Whilst I appreciate this might have caused a bit of frustration for the couple involved, sueing seems a tad excessive in this case.

Surely the self-inflicted punishment of the farm owners depriving themselves of revenue (cutting their nose off to spite their face) is enough? Or if not maybe spreading the story in the form of a review or newspaper article would have been more appropriate.

Yes the farm owners have breached the laws here and need to change their actions but being taken to court and fined $13,000 (which I personally think is excessive when considering the actual damage caused) is probably just going to make them even more bigoted? I would argue its better to open up a conversation, informing the owners that they are in breach of the law before charging in with lawsuits. Or is this just how it goes down in America (i.e. "compensation culture")?

It's good to see that justice was done, but I still find it unnerving to know that this sort of discrimination could happen a few miles down the road from where I live...

As I've said in other threads if you're stupid enough to turn down legitimate business because you're a bigot (and cowardly enough to hide behind the Bible as an excuse for it) then you deserve to go under.
