Ha. Yup. You should see the shit my brother has posted on there. I unfortunately borrowed his computer once. He had fb p
Open. And the shit he wrote is something I wished I'd never seen.

I don't see anti-gay comments on Facebook. Like, I can't think of an example when I ever have. That's the beauty of having a bunch of friends who were all raised in liberal old California.

A homophobic, racist, or generally bigoted comment leads to me deleting them. It's surprisingly satisfying.

Yeah Luxembourg  It's pretty rare to see Luxembourg mentioned as part of a study so I just had to point it out  sorry

Back to the subject, I think those results are common sense because when I was in the process of accepting myself (to myself at least) reading some homophobic comment made me feel really bad about myself.
And even now that I almost fully accepted myself, it still affects me and hurts a bit.

I noticed it too! I'd say merci Lëtzebuerg!

Homophobic comments won't make one (who is LGBT) happy of course. I'm glad I don't have to deal with these comments and if I see one saying homophobic things, I'll kick them out my list of friends immediately.

I saw one homophobic comment throughout my 4 years using Facebook, made by a frenemy's mother, who I immediately blocked. I agree that it can be very distressing and have a bad impact on your mental health as am LGBTQ member.

for me it's seems like the complete opposite. anyone that spews any kind of nonsense, just made me all the more aware of how they think and how wrong their type of thinking is. i don't always prefer to look at things in hateful ways but rather learn from it so i don't want the same mistake being repeated again. it also makes me all the more aware of who to stay away from.

Well no shit. Facebook gives us more exposure to microaggressions, and the health impacts of microaggressions have been documented for a while now...

Am I the only one who wishes anti-gay comments would get more creative? Sometimes I go into it, going "I hope this is something worth going into" and then I find out I've heard EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM.

If you go to 4chan or something awful you'd probably be dead within minutes.

I just ignore comments like this and if they are a friend of mine on facebook I simply block them. I think if you keep seeing stuff like that it can affect your mental health greatly so that is best to just get those people out of your life. I even seen people on facebook say gender stereotypes like my son is all man or my girl is all woman and I deleted those people because I don't stand for gender minded comments. My advice is never read the comments on anything online because it usually is filled with people who have nothing better to than spread hatred or rumors about things they no nothing about.

I had to drop a pastor who quoted Romans 1 and said, "I guess God is not PC." Yeah, don't like the door hit ya where the good Lord split ya, unfriend. Truthfully, I wouldn't have come out to my parents if they weren't my parents. I get more and more pissed off when I think about all the anti-gay crap I heard at my Christian school. Homosexuality leads to pedophilia and bestiality. Yeah, Jesus hates you more than he hates me.
