LGBT News School Bans Chick-Fil-A from Campus

I think, in the end, the school made a decision for people who could have made the decision for themselves and may have hurt the fundraiser. Let them sell their chicken and if people don't want to buy it because of the CEO's opinion on marriage then they don't have to.

 

So, Chick-fil-a can, as an organization, oppose things its CEO* doesn't like, but protesting Chick-fil-a only counts if done spontaneously and individually without any organizational power behind it?


*And enough important employees, investors, etc. that he's still a CEO.

 

Sounds good to me.

 

What the hell is Chick-Fil-A?

 

Something I have said here before. The CEO, and because of that Chick-Fil-A Corporate offices may contribute to anti gay causes, and some percentage of each meal makes it back to corporate. The individual locations though are independently owned franchises, and are managed locally.
My husband used to work for the only location in Wyoming at the time they had 2 gay employees, my husband included, and the owner of the franchise actually had 2 gay children. They were treated equally by the local franchise owner, and management. In fact, my husband was granted a leave of absence to go with me when my father's passed away, and we spent 2 weeks out of state. They did not have to, my state doesn't recognize my marriage, and obviously CFA corporate didn't either. They however still recognized our family.
I only post this to say, that while the CEO may be against us, not all the locations are.

OmittedFlunky, CFA is a fairly popular fast food chicken restaurant chain in the United States.

 

I wouldn't get rid of chikfila because they support anti-gay causes. I'd get rid of it because it's a sandwich of nasty chicken-pulp...and because they fund anti-gay crap.

 

Ditto, from what I've heard about them, I'm glad they're not in Canada.

A fast food place in America with soggy chicken and French fries. The only thing half decent on there menu is the chicken sandwich.

 

Someone should force all American fast food chains to have proper names like Little Chef or PizzaExpress, not stupid things like Chick-A-Fil. None of those make sense when put together. At least with Little Chef, you know that the chef is going to be small or with PizzaExpress you're going to get extremely happy pizzas.

 

The way I see it Chick Fil A was expressing their (wrong) opinion and refused to support something they don't believe in, and that high school was expressing their opinion by not putting money in to the pockets of assholes. Personally I don't think anybody should buy things from Chick Fil A. That school did the right thing in my book.

 

I'm glad to see that they did this. They're actually trying to do the same thing here on my campus and replace the Chick-fil-a with another similar place that's gay friendly.

 

Didn't chick fil a drastically cut their givings to anti gay organizations two years ago? I don't really see the point anymore, unless there's something I'm missing?
