Vatican Proposes Dramatic Shift In Attitude Towards Gays, Same Sex Couples

 

I didn't think they'd change their stance so soon but hey this is great news

 

I'm going to click the link, and I'm going to see a great big, green onion.

 

I think it's mostly eyewash. The membership is huge, at over 1 billion. Every country, region, and specific church will run things in the style they want to. There are stories of skirmishes between this particular religion and the LGBT community in just the last year or two, and in the U.S. My attitude is, "Stay tuned."

Its a step in the right direction. Pope Francis seems a lot more excepting than his predecessors, or at least as accepting as the Pope can be.

 

Looks like a lot of people in my family will be converting soon...

 

it feels more like an adaption to the times than anything, they really had no choice at this point since a lot of places are moving forward with acceptance....I mean they would look pretty bad if they kept their old stance going....but lets see how far they go, maybe theyll actually go to an actual accepting route?

 

This is a small step in the right direction. It has to be said that a great deal of Evangelical Protestants would never utter these words.

 

Baby steps, but steps in the right direction.

 

Being acknowledged as perhaps 'having qualities to offer' is a dramatic shift?
How self-hating do you have to be to be a part of the death cult that is Catholicism?

 

Pope Francis understands that the Catholic Church is losing younger generations by refusing the lgbtq population. If you believe that God made everyone perfect, then homosexuality should not be a sin. I guess this is where they argue that it's a choice, but you can refute that by asking them their preference on anything (even as mundane as chocolate vs vanilla) and ask when they chose to prefer one. Then proceed to ask them to try to just change their preference by abstaining from the favorite.

 

I can just see the big conference that had to take place for this decision to be made.

"Alright brothers, we have a problem. Public opinion is shifting against us. Any ideas?"
"Shorter ceremonies?"
"Grape flavored communion wafers?"
"Accepting gay people?"

"BRILLIANT! We'll do that last one. It requires the least amount of effort and is in the hypocritical tradition of the church!"

 

I don't really like most of what is said in this article but I think it could be a very tiny step in the right direction?

 

So let me get this straight. The Catholic church is admitting that homosexuals are fellow human beings?

As far as a lot of religions go, that is a big step.
