Arizona Same-Sex Marriage Ban Declared Unconstitutional

This morning, US District Court Judge John Sedwick struck down Arizona's ban on gay marriage, and refused to issue a stay, meaning gay couples are marrying immediately in the Grand Canyon State. This means that gay marriage is legal in all but two states in the west, and all of the four corners states.

UPDATE: Arizona Attorney General Tom Horne (R) had stated previously that the 9th circuit ruling applies to Arizona, but that a court decision specifically applying to Arizona was necessary. If he appeals the ruling, a stay may be issued, or he can instruct county clerks to begin issuing marriage licenses. He's yet to state what he'll do, though based on his previous statements, it seems likely he'll opt for the latter.

Couples can get married immediately in come counties, but not others unfortunately. Some counties print their own marriage licenses and can change the wording on the licenses to gender-neutral immediately, while others have pre-printed licenses from a different printing company and would need a few days to get the licenses printed.

More to come as this story develops.

This is such great news and it seems the deep red states are the ones that are the next to make it legal.
