    I just read it, too.

I wonder what's next. The WHOLE west coast is now blue. Now, I'm waiting to see what happens in the Sixth Circuit.

That is awesome news =) The same sex marriage bans are falling around the country. It's not going to be long before it's legal nationwide.

OK, so what about the rest of the states in the 9th and 10th circuits?

I note that Kansas, Wyoming, and Montana still have bans.

What's holding things up in these states? Are they just stubbornly refusing?

    Anyone have news on them?

For Wyoming, a judge will soon rule on the case on Monday by 5PM. Wyoming knows the fight is over, but will probably go down kicking and screaming.

Judge will rule by 5 p.m. Monday on same-sex marriage in Wyoming

Interesting. I wonder what's up with Montana.

Kansas, I can see them just openly defying orders, the way that place is, but Montana doesn't seem quite as crazy. Maybe there just isn't a case to challenge it yet? And on the east coast, what about SC?

There's already a challenge to Kansas' ban, though Gov. Sam Brownback (R-obviously) has stated that Kansas will refuse to enforce a ruling legalizing same-sex marriage no matter what the courts say. I can see Nikki Haley doing the same thing in South Carolina, though she and the AG have both stated they'll defend the ban "Until the courts rule." Montana Governor Steve Bullock (D) changed his earlier position in May and endorsed same-sex marriage, so he will order that a ruling be enforced.

Anthony Kennedy's rulings on the issue make me more and more comfortable with trying to go to the Supreme Court on this. Although at the rate we're going in two years it wouldn't make a difference anyways.

From what I've heard, the Surpeme Court would be obligated to take on same-sex marriage is 33 states legalize it. Also, since Ginsburg hinted about an opposing ruling calling for urgency, I'm pretty sure the 5th circuit (and maybe even the 6th circuit) court will rule in favor of upholding same-sex marriage bans. Given that we have 4 democrats, all of whom support gay rights, and Justice Kennedy whose shown us a promising history of LGBT rulings, I think that same-sex marriage may actually be settled once and for all in the Supreme Court in 2015 or 2016, and the outcome may very well be in a favor, especially since Obama will still be in office.
