    This has been all over the news today, a woman has been murdered and eaten by a cannibal in a small village in South Wales.

    BBC News - Cerys Marie Yemm named as Argoed hotel cannibal murder victim

    Utterly shocking news and although its a cliché, not something you would expect from the area (perhaps in a large metropolitan area, not a sleepy village). There is talk of the killer being an ex-offender who was recently released, I'm just wondering how his obvious dangerousness was not picked up by the prison service. He was supposedly high on cocaine at the time of the attack, but to me this suggests there was a serious underlying issue there - I know cocaine can cause rage and violence, but cannibalism is something else indeed.

    Although some people react differently to certain drugs as a result of biological or psychological causes, receiving narcotics that have been laced with additional chemicals is far from rare. I wouldn't be surprised if the memories of his past offenses/urges coupled with a extreme high caused him to carry all of this out.

    I do hope that she died relatively quickly and before the eating took place though.

    Ugh, that's sickening. I'm not sure what to say, except I'm sorry for this woman, her family, and the woman who witnessed it. Eating another human makes you not human, in my opinion.

    I've wondered how often this happens, how many cases get reported each year, and how many happen, but don't. Certainly a grisly crime. There was a chef here in Baltimore, got in a fight with one of his cooks, and ended up getting chopped into pieces, and put in a walk in freezer. The place closed, after that.
