General News Plane hits innocent buffalo during takeoff

Wonder if they managed to salvage some of the meet. But then again, if you don't kill an animal, the right way, you know... slitting the throat, draining the blood etc... The meat turns somewhat, bad. A waste, for sure.

I feel bad for the buffalo…but why was it on the runway? Was the jumbo jet red…

 

It wasn't a jumbo jet. It was a 737.

This animal destroyed the plane? I could see the animal doing damage to the landing gear or some other part that touched the ground, but how did it put the entire plane out of commission for future use?

When I first saw this headline, it seemed like material for a cartoon. Sorry, but that's what came to mind. I also thought it would be in Wyoming ... or Montana. Not quite.

We shouldn't forget Malaysia 370, but the stupidest runway disaster I can think of (in more recent times) - and which also coincidentally occurred in Asia - was the piloting of a Singapore jumbo jet down a closed runway.

Almost half of the passengers died. Now THAT was a tragedy.

The older KLM - Pan Am collision is still beyond comprehension.

 

Then there was the landing of United Airlines flight 232. An engine explosion caused the DC-10 to lose all its hydraulics and they had to steer the plane by varying engine speeds. This was what happened as they touched down in Sioux City, Iowa.

There was USAir flight 1493 in 1991, where the controller at LAX had instructed a small commuter aircraft to taxi into position and hold, in layman's terms, move into takeoff position on the runway, and then forgot about the flight and cleared a 737 to land on that same runway. They on top of the little Metroliner, killing 23 on the USAir plane, and all 12 onboard the SkyWest flight.



And one that had no fatalities and I watched as it happened live on TV, was JetBlue flight 292.

I remember that. The pilot put the DC-10 down in a corn field which somehow buffered the impact of the landing and reduced the extent of casualties immensely. While very sad, there was obviously some sort of guardian angel on duty.

I sort of did, too. That's why I made the comment that it seemed like fodder for a cartoon. However, it must have happened so quickly that the poor buffalo didn't know what hit him (or her).

No...I firmly believe this buffalo took down the plane on purpose. See the murderous glint in his eyes! What we have here is a bovine terrorist. The buffalo, Muu Mumoo, reportedly snuck onto the runway in full camouflage with the intent to take down an aircraft. Mumoo was heard bellowing a hearty, "MUUOOOO!!" as he died.

Here, I'm hoping this joke is funny...
