Yeah, the school is quite near me. It's a shame, but it's really to be expected at that particular school.

I did laugh quite hard at that angry email:

"Do you think that parents are useless at teaching their children that it's wrong to bully anyone, not only those children who might be gay"..."Do you think parents are too stupid to teach their own children about respect for everyone"

Well clearly, yes. Yes I do.

Now quite surprisingly (considering this is Daily Mail) the comments section has a fair bit of level headed commentary (mingled amongst the lunatics raving about indoctrination). I do find some equally amusing and terrifying though, like this one;

"Hmmm, your point about schools 'counterbalancing' what the children learn at home. That's been done before, in a place called the Soviet Union. Of course, you clearly take the communist, totalitarian view that children belong to the state, not the parents. I'm glad mine don't. I pity yours."

or this one:

"This school is using children as political pawns: totally unacceptable. Schools are for education NOT indoctrination; we are not, hopefully, the Third Reich!"

Oh dear, oh dear! :lol: And there are so many "Let children be children, they don't need to know about sex!" comments. You would honestly think the head had forced a class of 8 year olds to watch hardcore gay porn the way this lot go on.

These parents need help from god, I guess they want kids to be bullied. Maybe even hurt themselves over it.

Would these same parents be freaking out if anti-racism leaflets were given out? I think people are so invested in the idea that kids can be "turned gay" that they don't want their precious offspring even knowing that we exist.

They do have freedom of speech they should be as to say whatever they want. As long as no body is physically hurt or anything stolen it is O.K. for them to do whatever. Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me.

That is true, but words can be just as harmful as sticks and stones. Especially if they are directed at someone who's continually abused

No surprise here.

Extremism and radicalisation is widespread throughout the Birmingham area and many schools have been targeted with anti-western sentiments. The woes of Birmingham can be summed up through electing Salma Yaqoob in the local elections, who was a leader of a homophobic, antiemetic and racist party.

I can imagine that a lot of the people complaining hate racism and 'islamophobia', but when it comes to homosexuality and Jews then its a different situation isn't it? You either support equality or you don't, you cannot pick and choose like a buffet.

Looking at some of these questions -

I think instead of "they need to" they meant "we want them to".

One, how is anyone supposed to be able to give an accurate figure on that and two, why does this group need to know that?

Considering the way this group behaved I'd say they clearly are.

I'm not even going to dignify this with a response.

I think the question that should be put to the parents is this; "do you think your children are too stupid to handle learning about LGBTI people?"

2014 and we're still on this.

I'm just disturbed at the mere fact that people are getting mad at somebody for essentially saying, "Don't be a dick to people."

Oh, and the anti anti homophobia thing is horrible... At least I dont get anti anti homophobia at my school... We just get homophobia....
