Ah wow! He's a great example of a priest  And it was very brave of him to do that, knowing some of the negative reception he would get.

I can't imagine what kind of courage that must have taken... Kudos to him!

Does anyone know his telephone number? I'd like to give him a call and say I love him.

I'd really like to find an address or e-mail for him so I can tell him how proud I am of him. I posted it on one of my PFLAG lists in hopes somebody knows him in California.

I used to pray constantly for God to make me straight... But he is so right. I wouldn't be myself.

Why is this "shocking news"? I mean, catholic priest is basically labeled GAYGAYGAY anyway :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Good step for at least a small part of my church ^_^

I'm going to write him a letter.

Wow, I read that whole homily... it was amazing! I hope this got a lot of coverage. It could change a lot of people's thinking I think, especially the 'old people getting married' and 'sterile people getting married' bits.

    Wow.

Definitely a brave man. It takes a lot of courage to do what's right when you have that kind of pressure on you to state other people's views.

Thanks for posting that Becky, it's a wonderful story worth sharing around. I think sending him a letter is a great idea too. There's no telling what he'll face in the church or public for just being true to himself. I'm sure getting a few letters would go a long way to show him he has support.

After all, he may not have the type of support I've seen you all give here on EC. Or maybe he does and he may be a priest, but he's still just a man that came out to a lot of people at once, some of whom I'm sure were not very accepting, and I'm sure a few of those will be sending him letters as well, but not in support.

He took a big step, and like anyone, when you take a big step, it's nice to know someone is walking with you and not just a bunch of people trying to push you back.

Wow, "Will cost me dearly" but he's gonna get so much more in return from the GLBT community.
