    I would urge everyone to realize,

    0) This may or may not be true,
    1) Even if it is, we need to condemn sexual assault with all our resources,
    2) Whether this is "bad PR" or not is irrelevant,
    3) Queers aren't all angels,
    4) We don't need all queers to be angels to win, and
    5) We can ultimately win by force eventually.

    Queer men taking advantage of a queer boy is still an assault on a fellow member of the community.

    Even if he weren't queer, there is nothing that would justify not taking his side on our part should the allegations be true. Public relations don't matter if we destroy our integrity in the process.

    This is so irritating to me on multiple levels.

    First, the basic wrong of a 66 year old and a 25 year old with a 15 year old.

    Second... the fact that this guy is a co-founder of major organizations. Do people not realize how actions they take can tarnish the work they've done? I mean, I'm sure none of us are perfect, but this is just ridiculous. Oh, and not to mention, a 66 year old and his 25 year old boyfriend. That in itself isn't exactly the model of what is going to build credibility among people who are already skeptical.

    It's just fucked up on many levels.

    It does not matter that anyone can commit this type of crime (gay or straight), this will be a blow to the gay community because conservatives are going to run with this one.

    This is majorly bad because the HRC has been a wonderful positive force and champion in the struggle for marriage equality; yes, this will be bad PR. This isn't just some random person here--this person is associated with the HRC which is up against tough anti-equality groups and they don't need this. This is very upsetting.

    Come on! The founder of the HUMAN RIGHTS Campaign caught having sex with a minor *head to desk*

    This is horribly shameful; I wish that kid never had to go through what he did. But, it goes to show LGBT people are just like any other people; they're just as capable of child abuse, domestic violence, and rape.

    I agree. Not only does this give bigots "ammunition" so to speak against the LGBT community, but this really tarnishes the work that the HRC group has done. My heart goes out for the kid, though.

    *Sigh* Yesterday, they made statements regarding Ferguson, then I see this. Despite their LGBT goodies and trinkets, I don't think I will be donating anymore. Then hearing that our state is the 2nd worst state for LGBT rights today. I am so upset overall.
