This reminds me of how EMTs have already let trans women of color die.

And Michigan apparently was the only state that actually lost population between the 2000 and 2010 census. This certainly won't help change that statistic.

*crosses Michigan off list of potential places to live*

So how do they plan to determine if someone is LGBT? Just guess? I'm pretty sure that if someone died because of this, they would have a hefty lawsuit on their hands

How can anyone look at that and think "no bad will come of this"?

Even by Republican standards this is lunacy.

Michigan was cool while I lived there. Now they're just pissing me off.

So...now an EMT can say they don't like that person and basically kill them because they're religious. And other EMTs will discriminated against for being lbgt or helping someone who is.

This is just opening the door to another type of uneccessary and uneeded discrimination.

So, basically, if I lived in Michigan and suffered a heart attack, an EMT can legally refuse to give me treatment and let me die simply because I want to be with a woman instead of a man?

    WHAT. THE. FUCK.

It's funny that bills like this get passed or pushed for by the religious right, but they still say they're ones being persecuted and it's us who are pushing for "special rights".

And by funny I mean infuriating.

Are you fucking kidding me?! It wouldn't surprise me if very few (if any) of those EMTs were charged, sadly.

If we were to pass something that made it legal to refuse services to the religious right, shit would hit the fan. When we're the ones being discriminated against, it's totally fine, and anyone who disagrees with it is automatically a flaming hater of Christianity and all of it's followers. *facedesk*

The EMT portion is NOT CORRECT. The rest is true however. EMT's are exempted from discriminating by this law.

Well this solidifies my resolve to move out of state as soon as humanly possible.

Wow. But CHRISTIANS are the ones having their rights stomped on and being discriminated against...

What ever happened to "LOVE THY NEIGHBOR"? This is exactly why I hate organized religion now. Because it's not actually about worshipping a god or other entity anymore. Organized religion is just about pushing a certain people's agenda anymore and a reason to be "allowed" to hate certain people.

Don't EMTs have a "do no harm" type deal they have to uphold? Surely that's going to trump religion in their minds?

Ok, this law is unconstitutional. We have this thing called seperation of church and state. Well Michigan what church influnced you? I hope the Court Justices knock this law down because it's just terrible...

I was just thinking about the separation of church and state. It seems like church is seeping and/or taking over a lot more of the state. By the end of next year, if we're not living in a military state it appears we'll be living in a church state. The rules are everyone must worship the deity of the person with the most money.
