China promises medical care for 'Kunkun', an HIV-positive boy shunned by village

I ought not to be shocked anymore by anything, but I am. But maybe this demonstrates the importance of education; because it would appear to me, that this is an example of how ignorance, simply not knowing the facts and allowing one's world view to be shaped by ignorance, can lead to such callousness. The boy is just eight years old...and gets discarded like that... :frowning2: But I'm glad the Chinese Govt has stepped in to help him.

Wow. The Chinese government doing something progressive? Must be an early April Fool's Day prank. Good on them.

How do they not know how HIV spreads? It's not the 80s anymore! I swear, the world would be a better place if people weren't here! :tantrum:

Yeah maybe I was too easy on them. Even without having finished basic schooling, it would surely not be that hard to just ask an expert and discover that an eight year old boy with HIV is a zero threat to the health of others. But part of me wants to comprehend such ignorance...can folks really be that stupid? And, why are some folks like that? It baffles me, I try to find a cause.

Well not zero threat. The village needs to learn basic sanitation and about hiv transfer prevention is all. Not ban him.

This is heart sore to read,
I cannot believe anyone would abandon their child in their deepest time of need,
Sadly this comes on the heels of other such stories,
Like the little girl who got run over,
    And no one helped her!
