A nationwide referendum on restricting gay rights in Slovakia has failed to produce a legally binding result after the required number of eligible voters did not turn out.

In Saturday's vote, Slovaks were asked whether they agree to three points: that marriage can only be called a union between a man and a woman; that same-sex partners must be barred from adopting children; and that it's up to parents to decide whether their children receive sex education.

Great strategy by the human rights activists. There may have been >90% of votes in favor, but that's because the opponents knew to stay home. Too bad Croatia didn't have this same sort of rule!

Czechia FTW! Hopefully the other Slavic countries will take a page from the book of the heart of Europe. But man, that that many people – even if there weren't enough people voting – voted yes for that is kinda disheartening.

Wow, and in the picture, the text says 'Referendum for saving children and parents.' Just...wow.
