    You beat me to it. His fiancee was using her job as a state consultant for her own personal gain, and John Kitzhaber looked the other way while she was doing it. I didn't know until now that Kate Brown was bisexual though.

    Oregon does not have a Lieutenant Governor, which is why the Secretary of State is next in the line of succession. Admittedly, I've never paid this much attention to Oregon politics until these last few days...

    UPDATE: In his resignation speech, Kitzhaber said that he was "Deeply troubled by the fact that I was accused, tried, convicted, and sentenced solely by the media." He will officially leave office on February 18, 5 days from today.
