Five years is pretty rough, but it is only the max and swatting is among the scummier crimes out there. I am glad he got caught though: it serves as a warning for anyone else considering it.

I had no idea that "swatting" was an actual thing. I've never even heard of the term before now. I mean, I know there are some people who prank call the police for such trivial bullshit, but this is crossing the line by like a 100 feet.

But then again... it's kind of ironic. The guy who was doing the swatting, had his place raided as well. Pretty fitting way to go down if you ask me. Poetic Justice...

Yeah five years is rough, but some of these people think it's a harmless prank and sooner or later, someone is going to get hurt because of it. So in some ways, I want him to get the max just set a precedent.

5 years is light. A police raid like that could easily result in someone getting shot. The charge should be attempted murder. Penalty should be death.

Given the tendency of police in the US to, at times, shoot first and ask questions later (like throwing a stun grenade into an occupied baby's crib), this could very well end in tragedy.

Five years, given the potential danger, is appropriate.

I don't know for sure if it was swatting, but about 4 years ago at about 1 in the morning, I heard a knock on the door. I had just been watching TV and I thought it was weird. Then, I see lights in the windows and I could hear people talking.

I call my mom and then ran to get my dad. I looked outside and I see police - I was freaking out.

They said that it could have just been a phone malfunction or someone driving by who did it - but it was just really, really weird.

So I'm glad this guy got caught and will go away. I hope it sends a message!

When someone calls the police on another person saying that they're (The person/people that they want swatted.) terrorists or murderers or some other evil shit to try and get a swat team sent to their house.

Pretty dumb if you ask me, swat teams don't fuck around.

I don't agree with him possibly getting a five year sentence, it should be a lot longer.

It's an incredibly dangerous and stupid thing to do, made worse by the fact a lot of people do it because they think it's funny.
