Knew something like this should happen. Its gunna be up and rallying for a bit now. Although I do think some case studies are gunna pop up because of this. I still dont like it though. It's unfair.

I had a feeling NY would be the next state to support gay marriage.

I hope they do. The more states that support it the better chance we have at getting equal rights worldwide.

As for the opponents of it: Fuck off and go do something useful for once.

Gah, these people piss me off. :frowning2:

Really, it's like someone spilled a drop of rainbow ink on New England that is slowly dripping down to the rest of the country. I just hope that they spill a little more on Maine and that the stain eventually leaks down to the south.

    It's about damn time!

There are more homos in New York than religious people at the Vatican!! They have Broadway, afterall...

Okay, so maybe that's an exaggeration, but I honestly thought New York would've done this sooner. It's such a liberal state.

^ that is exactly what i was thinking ^

The Broadway part, not the religious people. Its a stereotype, but its pretty fucking true.

This is exciting, hopefully RI is soon too!!!!!

  12. Yeah I had a feeling New York would go for it. Rhode Island will probably do it next, with us to the north and Connecticut to the west both having it xD

I have a feeling it won't be long for New York, Rhode Island, and Vermont. New Hampshire and Maine might be a bit tougher, but I doubt it will be too terrriblely long there either.

Anybody know anything about Hawaii? I would think they would be another state that would be soon.

Oh, and a month from today it will be legal in Iowa:slight_smile:

Really, I didn't think it would be any trouble in California. But one more state is always good news.

    'tis.

the shocking thing with california is that it is one of the most progressive states, but banned a minority from a legal union.

New York has a better chance of getting AND keeping it. They already recognize gay marriages taking place in Connecticut and Massachusetts, so pro-gay marriage folks are making it plain and simple: if you want more revenue in the state, just allow them. You already recognize them and give them full benefits, so it makes no sense not to just ALLOW them too. Then you can make some money off the weddings themselves rather than sending them 30 miles down the road to another state to dump all that cash. Plus, New York now has a Democratic majority and should be able to keep things like Prop 8 away from popular vote. Also, New Jersey is close behind New York in this discussion too. Some people have said that both New York and New Jersey may have gay marriage passed before Obama finishes his first term. :icon_bigg

The courts will decide. I'm trying to be positive, but I (obviously) have no idea what way they will rule. I am hoping that a California court over-rules Prop 8 between now and then, as the legal grounds behind that could help with the Iowa decision.

But gay marriage was legal here at one point. Only one couple was able to get married though.
