This would be really nice actually. I have plenty of gender-related parts that I'd just give away if I could. Heck; take my whole frickin' body if you want. :surprised

 

Don't mind me, but I think that that's icky... On contrary, the body swap idea (see above post) would be fine! Just stick someones brain into someone elses body and ta da!

 

That probably would be a bit less complicated(at least in the sense of speaking about it), because you'd just be given the body of the gender you are, instead of having to look at things more...individually.

I'll even admit that my post sounded kinda...yeah, heh. :x

 

Yeah we talked about this in biology today, our teacher found it interesting that it was our country of all to have the first successful one

 

This is not the first successful penis transplant. There have been others. This is just the first one in South Africa. I know there have been other transplants in the past, as I remember one incident from China. A guy lost his penis in a farming accident I believe, and he got a transplant. However, his wife wouldn't have sex with him, and he found it highly upsetting and disturbing to have someone elses penis attached to his body. He actually had them remove it. I recall a similar situation involving a hand transplant.

I am assuming that the individuals who received the transplants were experiencing some type of body dysmorphia, which is understandable. If you have a penis or a hand that once belonged to someone else, and it is clearly not part of your body... it is easy to see how that would be upsetting.

Where exactly do they harvest penises from?

 

But do they take it from organ donors or something? Or trans women? I wouldn't think they would think to save the penis for later use.

All of them mated and four produced offspring. It was a test for a concept he had been working on since 1992, with the aim of making human penises for transplant. He has produced test versions of bioengineered human penises, but none of them are suitable for transplantation yet.[9]"

Too funny.... Still doesn't answer my question regarding current procedures.

 

Well, I guess anything is possible. Science is always moving along and discovering new things.

 

Personally, if it weren't too costly, I would much prefer a bioengineered penis to someone else's. I would feel quite strange walking around with a stranger's genitalia, although I can also see how it would be overall positive for dysphoria (especially if it followed the suggested "exchange" program).
