Young transgender activist Blake Brockington mourned | QNotes

Sometimes I wonder why the world is so cruel. We fight and we fight, but we have yet to see the light. Some of us can't handle this any more. Can't handle the hatred and the ignorance of people trying to oppress us, of people wanting to remove us from existence. Why are they doing this to us? For the comfort of knowing that they can continue with their closed minded monochromatic life without being ever exposed to the colours that is human diversity? Is it worth it? Is it worth the lives of people like Blake? How many must die for stupidity?

That's really sad. The world needs to be more accepting. I admire him for being so brave, it's a shame at such a young loss of life n

It's always so sad to hear of a young life lost, and even more so when it could have been prevented. I wish society would get over itself already and learn to accept those who differ from the "set" mold.

They do it because they're scared of the unknown. That's what you'll find behind their hatred. Unless it was somebody truly malicious that realised mocking that guy's trans status, is the most effective way to hurt him. And you could argue fear is involved in that as well.

Even if you get rights, the law can only help so much. Education can further combat this discrimination. Some kids at the local youth group say that nowadays my old school teaches more about LGBT. That's great, and we need this everywhere.

Anyway, as you've expressed, you can lead a horse to water, but you can;t make it drink. It's a hopeless situation with some people.

This is sad... I'm sorry for the kid and his family... Being an activist can expose you to a lot of hate, you need way more than just a thick skin to survive all the hate.

I wish somebody has said him a kind word... This might have saved him. We should spread more kindness, or at least try to. Sometimes a hug or a nice word can do a lot of good. They seem simple, yet they are everything but simple. They save lives.

Why? Suicide is letting the ignorant people win.

It's not about winning and losing. Suicide is not the cowards way out, for some it's the only escape from emotional and physical pain.

I've never seen anyone encourage suicide as an effective means to escape emotional pain to a suicidal person. It appears only after death that it become excusable.

I'm not encouraging suicide. However I understand that sometimes we are not strong enough to continue fighting when all our lives have been pain and suffering. It is wrong however to blame someone for not wishing to hurt any longer.
