Pretty cool! Not at all surprising though.

Neat, but methyl cyanide is far from complex, lol.

Indeed, this is what I call a complex (and beautiful!) organic molecule: Hemoglobin, the oxygen-carrying component in our blood cells.

Yeah, I was quite disappointed when I read what they meant with 'complex'. Although pleasantly surprised when it mentioned the amount of it.

    Eeeehh.. Beautiful, yes, but complex..

Albumin, the stuff which ensures that (some) blood stays in blood vessels. :icon_bigg

Maybe that's why there's this news from NASA that 'we are close to discovering aliens'
The universe seems endless and there's lot more out there than we can imagine.

I've heard it said that either we are completely alone in the universe, or there is other intelligent life elsewhere...both possibilities are mind-boggling!

In my opinion though, there's a great possibility that we are not alone, We are not special as we think.
It so lonely if people realized that earth is the only living planet. What if a planet, not just one or two, out there somewhere in other galaxies are about to start life itself or still in the process of evolution?

No, they are not alive. They just have the potential to partly make up something which could be alive.

As an astronomer I can tell you methyl cyanide is in fact a complex organic (at least to us).... you wouldnt believe how many chemical reactions a code needs to calculate its abundances... there are thousands of molecules interacting in its production!!

I think I might have to become religious if there was oceans of hemoglobin floating around a new star!
