If you want to campaign against Buzzfeed's newsworthiness, you might want to start with "shocking facts about salad" and the like before criticising their decision to report a deliberate social statement that could mean a lot if it gains traction.

I wasn't talking about buzzfeed reporting it, everyone knows they aren't a news source. But seemingly every time I click on the news forum on this site, half of the threads are things like these that aren't news

I'd be down for this if so many cops everywhere weren't collectively losing their minds.

I may not have born yet, but I've read about the Stonewall riot, and I can't even go to my local gay bar without being scared that some John Q. Law is going to poke his fat snout in the door, drag me and my friends out for no reason, put my teeth on the curb and stomp the back of the head and say "Guess you don't got such a purdy mouth now, do ya, boy?"

Apparently for every 1k tweets he gets, he'll keep it on for another week. Let's all spam his Twitter account

That's really cool! He looks great with pink hair  It's so nice to see some people standing up in creative ways like this. Great example!

On the hair - cool, he can definitely pull it off although I think fishbowl blue would work better. He looks like he's stepped right out of the pop group Aqua!

On the campaign - massive meh from me.
    1. Why pink? I know, I know; pink triangles and all that, but its just so clichéd. You literally cannot have anything to do with LGBT without neon pink or rainbows plastered everywhere - and I hate both! Plus surely this will just blend into Breast Cancer Awareness given they have pretty much trademarked pink?
    2. I don't really see what concrete difference these campaigns make, to me it seems more "gesture politics" than anything. I sort of get the raising discussion aspect (as naturally people are going to ask: "why the hell do you have pink hair?") but I don't think this will have any real affect on homophobia, as if anything it just plays into cliches and reinforces rather than counters narrowminded people's views. Quite simply I think it takes something counter to what people expect of homosexuality to "wake up" homophobes.

Like with the "pride car" police car they have in Manchester (which has attracted criticism from both homophobic people for "pandering to gay people", police officers who actually work the streets, and gay people for the tackiness alike) I think there is a real danger of these things alienating people, making things worse instead of better and causing complacency. A discussion re the car on a police forum can be found here. Its the attitude "right, we've put up a rainbow flag - that's the gays satisfied then." To be honest I couldn't give a crap if my local police officer had pink hair, rainbow laces, or a rainbow cop car with pink leather seats that plays Kylie Minogue through loudspeakers (I hope they don't read this and get ideas). Instead I'd much rather the police force was appropriately funded, the officers were well-selected and thoroughly trained, and given decent diversity training headed by actual minorities (rather than these nonsense and outdated videos most currently have to sit through).

Nice to see that the police in Canada aren't like the corrupt pieces of garbage we have here in the USA.

    Isn't "pink" for Breast Cancer???

Shouldn't "gay day" be purple or fuschia?

    My thoughts exactly.

And I do like me some purple! Or green, green for Gay. That'll do nicely.
