    Did anyone else see this, I think it came out last week? Homosexuality is punishable by death in Iran, but there's some marginal acceptance towards trans folk. Some people are being forced to transition even though they are gay, not trans*. Horrifying.

    iirc it's been that way for a long time actually, but it doesn't make it any better of course.

    Yes. It's interesting that trans* is more accepted than gay by such a degree. It is just one more way of keeping people in the closet but now with dysphoria. Just awful.

    Yeah, I read about this a while ago. It really sucks that their government can do that. It is actually the second most popular place in the world for getting SRS. Because not only do the government arrest / kill you if they don't, they also pay for part of it if you do.
