When will we ever learn that everybody is unique and deserves to be valued and respected!
I work providing information on social services to vulnerable and disadvantaged individuals. The most important thing we learn is to treat everybody with respect no matter what.
I have seen just a little respect shown to one person change their lives completely. However disrespecting someone denies the world of a beautiful talent.

O god, reading this article made me cry in the office.

"She found her life in anime, nerd culture and computing."

That sentence made me cry even more. Her contribution is really big, especially in the nerd culture. I dont know why people would hate her. And the fact that someone even encourages her to "do it" is really bothering me. Why would someone do that? Her mother is right when she said this: "the world is not a kind place for people who are different". I guess discrimination, in general, is something permanent in this crazy cruel world.

Rest in peace, Rachel. I hope youre in a good place. I, being a nerd and a geek, will always be thankful to whatever you have contributed.

 

This is really the issue with 4chan. There are way too many members there that argue that being online is not the same in real life. So, when they say "Kill yourself", they don't exactly expect that to be taken seriously, and they don't expect someone to actually kill themselves.

Those on 4chan that do realize there's someone on the other side of the screen tend to not be the ones to say things like that. However, they're unfortunately in the minority.

 

I don't understand why people deal with 4chan if they don't have a thick skin. Unless 4chan actively seeks them out and victimizes them, most people know the way 4chan is. And unless 4chan actively seeks you out, you don't have to go on the website.

Not trying to downplay it, though. I find this very sad. Compared to other cases, I find this one especially sad for some reason. Maybe because she is close to my age. I wish she could have reached out to somewhere besides 4chan.

Indeed, 4chan is... What it is, period. I guess she wasn't in a good state anyways before she tried 4chan, and I'm thinking about her "family" here, people who were close to her.


She helped develop an emulator that allows you to play Gamecube and Wii games on your PC.

... And lots of fools who never did anything good are still around.

Yes, this is sad...

 

So sad... she was such a beautiful, talented, and clearly loved woman T.T (and her mom even used her pronouns ♡)
