    Main quote:
Dr. Robert Slackman is a Reproductive Endocrinologist and will be the primary doctor in charge of giving hormone treatments to the transgender community.

"Now with us starting a transgender clinic, we'll be able to provide all the hormonal treatment for these changes."

Slackman says he currently provides these treatments for teenagers who are accompanied by their parent or legal guardian.

“I provide services for anybody that's beyond puberty, so beyond about thirteen years of age.”
This is a big deal for the Roanoke area because as far as I know this is the first time it's been offered. Other Carilion's may offer this as well. It goes on to state that while it only offers hormone therapy and not surgery, but they've been able to recommend people to doctors who can preform the surgery. This is a big advancement for the transgender community in the area.
