    yes its not a cure, but its a damn good way to prevent the virus transmission beside condoms (duhh so obvious)...

    there is also PEP (post expossure prohylaxis) which can be used after the event. but you'll never know who is truly honest about his HIV status especially if he is expecting to get laid, so PrEP is way better in preventing the transmission

    I was just disagreeing with the previous poster who said it was a cure... and also mentioned some conspiracy theories that I ignored. However, I don't really support PrEP currently. It seems like an unnecessary drug, with typical drug side effects, whose safety I'd be cautious about...

    From "prepfacts.org" (which appears to be biased toward taking PrEP):
    I'd prefer if the norm in HIV prevention doesn't turn everyone into guinea pigs. I can't imagine "permanently" taking antiretroviral drugs can be beneficial to the body. However, immediate side effects do seem mild (but still, nausea and diarrhea give me the indication that the body doesn't like it...). And there's other issues with it...

    And I actually know some people who use it as a license to just go fuck around without condoms...
